My name is Mohammed, and I am from Saudi Arabia. I am studying English at LCI Language Centers. I chose to come to Colorado because it has many different things I can do as an international student. And I like the people here, they are so kind and they like to support and help international students. I have seen a lot of students graduate from LCI and they speak very well! Studying here is hard, but it is really helpful.
About LCI Language Centers
LCI is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) and offers both general English and Academic English for international students wishing to attend university in the United States. LCI Language Centers combine quality, accredited academic programs with the personalized attention students require to meet their educational goals. Students may then progress through the levels until they obtain the level of English proficiency required for university studies.
The elements of the Academic English Program focus on developing the student’s effective communication skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing at the level needed for success at an English-speaking university. A cultural component to assist students in their awareness and adaptation to life in the USA is part of all language programs at LCI.

The University of Colorado Boulder
My name is Oluwafunmilayo and I’m from Nigeria. I am studying Environmental Studies and Geography at the University of Colorado Boulder. Also, the mountains, the leaves in the fall, the snow, the sunshine and the exceptional opportunities for outdoor activities are some of the things I love about the CU environment. CO has 300 days of sunshine and Boulder is one of the most liberal and inclusive cities in the country. I would do this all over again. The investment in CU Boulder is worth it.

My name is Star and I’m from Beijing, China. I am studying comparative literature at Colorado College. What I like about Colorado College is the Block Plan. When classes are taken one at a time for three and a half weeks, it allows complete immersion in one subject…The academics are rigorous and require a lot of hard work. Colorado College also offers many study off-campus semesters where students are allowed to go to a foreign city or even country to develop their interest in the subject. Coming to Colorado is the best decision I’ve ever made.

My name is Shitu and I am from Nepal. I’m in my second year of graduate studies in Writing and Poetics. Naropa is open and accepting. The teachers at Naropa are very encouraging and helpful in tracing an idea into reality, in my case writing. They help in creating a space where sharing my experiences, writings and understandings–which are very different from those in class– is safe and comfortable. I love the passion and sense of responsibility that people of Boulder have towards the environment and the community. Boulder, as cliché as it may sound, is picture perfect each day of the year and there is so much to do here. People here are very helpful and friendly and know exactly where Nepal is on the map. Just this little fact made it very easy for me to settle in.
Naropa University was founded in Boulder, Colorado, in 1974 as the Naropa Institute by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, a lineage holder of both the Kagyü and Nyingma Buddhist traditions. Naropa’s campus culture reflects the Buddhist-inspired, ecumenical nature of the university’s curriculum, grounded as it is in the world’s wisdom traditions. As a consequence, diversity is deeply respected, as are students’ individual academic and spiritual paths. This respect extends to the larger community where Naropa students contribute as volunteers and interns. And to Naropa’s relationship to the planet; environmental stewardship is integral to Naropa’s campus life.
